When Someone You Love Is Struggling, It’s Hard to Know What to Do

Supporting a loved one with OCD—especially while they’re in treatment—can be overwhelming, isolating, and confusing. You may find yourself constantly asking questions like:

  • Am I helping or hurting when I step in?

  • Is it cruel to challenge compulsions, or kind?

  • How do I stop walking on eggshells—and still show up with love?

  • What does “accommodation” even mean?

The truth is, even with the best intentions, it’s easy to feel lost in your role. OCD doesn’t just affect the individual—it ripples through families, relationships, and households. Yet, few resources exist for those trying to support the people they love most.

A Space Just for You

BWC’s OCD Supporters Group Therapy is a safe, judgment-free space led by an OCD-specialized therapist, designed specifically for parents, siblings, partners, and caregivers of those in ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention) treatment. This isn’t a lecture or a seminar—it’s a space to be heard, supported, and guided. In this group, you’ll:

  • Connect with others who truly understand the emotional toll and day-to-day decisions of supporting someone through OCD.

  • Learn practical, evidence-based ways to offer support without enabling compulsions.

  • Get honest answers to the questions you may be afraid to ask—without judgment.

  • Discover how to take care of yourself in the process.

What You’ll Learn

Each session is designed to help you:

  • Understand your role in your loved one’s recovery

  • Recognize and reduce unhelpful accommodation patterns

  • Respond to reassurance-seeking in a supportive but healthy way

  • Balance compassion with boundaries

  • Gain confidence in what to say, what not to say, and when to step back
